A worker driving over 25,000 miles a year has the same level of risk of fatal injury as a worker employed in high hazard industries such as quarrying or construction.
In Ireland between 2003 and 2008, work related vehicles were involved in 170 deaths. 24 counties experienced work related vehicle fatalities with Cork, Dublin and Limerick having the highest number of deaths. All age categories were involved, with the 45–49 year old category having the highest number of deaths.
